Job Summary

The County of San Diego's Department of Human Resources is currently accepting applications for Senior Human Resources Analyst-Medical Standards Option. Senior Human Resources Analysts are first line supervisors who perform professional work in a human resources area and provide leadership on Countywide projects as lead and/or supervisor.

This position will supervise the following human resources functions:

Medical Standards

  • Pre-Employment medical examinations
  • Coordination of POST Psychological evaluations
  • In-Service exams and immunizations for employees as required per various federal and state guidelines
  • Fitness-For-Duty examinations, Reasonable Suspicion Testing
  • Omnibus and Random Drug Testing
  • Coordination of Rehabilitation Treatment Plans
  • Other duties as assigned
Unemployment Insurance (UI) 
  • Coordination of the handling of UI Claims on behalf of the County by providing information to the State and attending hearings, as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

An ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience in the areas described above, have strong supervisory skills, be detail oriented, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, have a high level of computer proficiency in various software programs including Excel, be able to maintain strict confidentiality, be strategic, and have excellent follow through.

Minimum Requirements

1) A bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency (a degree in human resources management, industrial/organizational psychology, public administration, business administration, occupational health and safety, industrial engineering, health sciences or a related field is highly desirable), AND

2) Five (5) years of recent professional human resources experience which must have included at least two (2) years in one of the following areas: recruitment, selection, classification, and compensation; benefits; employee and organizational development; risk management/loss prevention/insurance; or medical standards/backgrounds/Unemployment and State Disability Insurance. 
 
Notes:

1) Recent work experience is defined as work experience within the past five (5) years.

2) A master’s degree in any of the fields described above may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience; OR additional years of experience as described above may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

3) Completion of a certificate in HR management from a university, or completion of a Professional Human Resource certification program (SHRM, IPMA) is highly desirable.
