HEALTH INFORMATION SPECIALIST II

The Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) has an immediate need to fill a vacancy for Health Information Specialist II.  The incumbent will be responsible for developing materials, coordinating campaigns, and advising community health agencies and professionals on health, safety and wellness information, activities and services throughout the community. 

The current opening is in HHSA's Office of Strategy and Innovation located at 1255 Imperial, San Diego.   The Health Information Specialist II will play key role in supporting the implementation of the County's Live Well, San Diego Campaign to achieve the goal of helping San Diego County residents become healthy, safe and thriving. While the current opening is in the Office of Strategy and Innovation, the eligible listed established from this recruitment may be used to fill future openings in other divisions.


In order to qualify, you must meet either of the following:

1. One (1) year of experience as a Health Information Specialist I in the County of San Diego or in a public/community agency performing equivalent duties; OR,

2. A bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in journalism, English, public health or related discipline, AND, two (2) years of full-time experience in a public/community health program developing and writing printed materials and press releases for use in print and electronic media; OR,

3. A master's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in journalism, English, public health or related discipline, AND, one (1) of full-time experience in a public/community health program developing and writing printed materials and press releases for use in print and electronic media.
 

The ideal candidate is one who is skilled in developing, writing and coordinating layout and production of multi-media materials, including developing and maintaining dynamic websites.
