The Health and Human Services Agency is seeking a qualified Medical Doctor to fill the position of Chief, Maternal, Child and Family Health Services (MCFHS) Branch.

This position will work closely with the Deputy Public Health Officer.  The incumbent will plan, organize, direct, coordinate, and evaluate the countywide Maternal, Child, Adolescent, and Family Health programs, including the activities of the Chronic Disease Health Equity and Place Unit, the Child Health and Disability Prevention Program, Maternal Child Health Program, and the California Children’s Services Program. 

The Chief is responsible for the management and administration of public health programs that improve the health of mothers, children, and their families. MCFHS Branch has an operating budget of $32 million with over 200 staff.

Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Valid license to practice medicine in the State of California is required; AND,
  2. Graduation from a medical school including completion of a one (1) year of internship in a hospital; AND,
  3. A master’s degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in public health (MPH) and at least five (5) years of recent (within the last eight (8) years) public health experience to include at least two (2) years of supervisory and administrative experience in maternal, child and adolescent health programs; OR,
  4. Ten (10) years of progressively responsible work in the administration and management of significant public maternal and child, and adolescent health programs, which included experience as a community liaison.
